Our High School Students Are Planning Their Futures in AI (Part 2)

The learning never stops, even once our students have left our classrooms. We ask our students how they will continue to use the education they’ve received from Inspirit AI. It’s hard to not get inspired by all of their future plans! Please enjoy the second part of this series.

Vishnu Nandurkar, who worked on the Medical Imaging: Diagnosing Pneumonia project, is very excited by the potential of AI in healthcare. “I will be interested in this area on account of the immense opportunity to make better and cheaper healthcare available to larger populations across the globe by leveraging AI.”

Duriya Rehan, who worked on the Disaster Relief project, continued her Artificial Intelligence education after Inspirit AI through a Machine Learning course and a Python Summer Enrichment Class offered at her school. She also opted for the Computer Science subject for her A levels and wants to create exciting projects using the information she has gained. “ I hope to use AI to improve healthcare and education in Pakistan. Since there is a shortage of teachers here, I feel that creating an application or using NLP can be used to provide children in rural areas basic vocational training [...] In small villages in Pakistan, basic healthcare facilities are inaccessible and I feel that we can use AI to not only identify what medicine is needed in what area but also for diagnosis and treatment. I hope that day I can achieve this and eradicate these issues from my country.”

Amanya Sahney, who worked on the Understanding Siri project, was blown away by the myriad of applications that Artificial Intelligence has to offer. The applications that stood out to her the most were the voice assistants, dance and Artificial Intelligence, and the ability to detect diseases. Because of Inspirit AI, Amanya was so intrigued by these applications that she is considering pursuing computer science for her undergraduate degree, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence. “Hopefully, I may come across another field in AI that excites me even more and possibly pursue that in my future. The instructor spotlights were really helpful and opened my eyes to the multitude of fields that we can work in relation to AI and taught me how it could even be life-changing when it comes to healthcare.”

Dhanish Natarajan, who worked on the DNA Detectives for the SARS Cov-2 project, was very inspired to work on projects that can find a solution to problems that our society faces. “ Before I start working on such a project, I will practice my skills in AI by doing some smaller projects. Step by step, I will find the area of AI that I am excited about.”

Mahima Agrawal, who worked on the Emotion Recognition project, wants to continue working with Artificial Intelligence in the robotics field. “This program inspired me to dig deeper into some possible future careers in AI. At first, I thought that there weren't any careers in this area, but once I started doing some research, I realized that there were multiple careers that can be pursued in this area. A part of AI that I am particularly excited about is the robotics field. There are already some robots that have been made such as Roomba which is essentially a self vacuum. I want to be a part of projects like these in the future.”
