Empowering Future Innovators: Inspirit AI at Marymount

At Marymount International School Rome, students are encouraged to explore innovation and think ahead. Through the Inspirit AI Scholars Program, developed by Stanford and MIT alumni, students engage in hands-on learning that introduces them to Artificial Intelligence while fostering collaboration, leadership, and ethical thinking. Now in its second year at Marymount, the program helps students build real-world skills by working on projects with social impact, from space science to healthcare.

For one of our students, Giovanni Battista C., the journey began in the summer after Grade 7, when he enrolled in the AI Scholars summer program and worked on a group project that used Python to classify exoplanets and non-exoplanets. “The course was about using Python to create a project for social good,” Giovanni Battista said. With guidance from his instructor, he learned to code, collaborate, and present his team’s results, earning a certificate of completion.

AI Scholars for High School Students

“In Grade 8, Giovanni Battista was selected as an AI Ambassador, a role that focused on outreach and promoting AI education through school clubs, presentations, and social media. He also attended talks by AI professionals and practiced public speaking, gaining insights into how AI is used in the real world.”

In 2024, he completed a course on AI, entrepreneurship, and leadership, which prepared him to become a Teaching Assistant. That summer, he supported two instructors, one from Princeton, the other a Stanford Ph.D., helping Marymount students troubleshoot code and develop their own AI projects. “A good TA doesn’t just give answers,” Giovanni Battista said.

“They help students think through problems and figure things out on their own.”

He continued in his TA role in 2025, supporting another instructor working in AI research. This year’s projects included a personal AI chatbot and a finance tool using Natural Language Processing. “Both groups put in a lot of effort, and I’m happy with the results they achieved,” Giovanni Battista shared.

Giovanni Battista’s story reflects Marymount’s mission to prepare students with future-ready skills and the confidence to lead in a world shaped by technology. Through Inspirit AI, students aren’t just learning about the future, they’re building it.
